Last Monday, after the long Thanksgiving Break, we played a game on the road against Maclay. The team was definitely a little slow to get back into the game after all that turkey eating and football watching!
Maclay scored. We scored. Maclay scored again. Our girls started to come alive but it proved to be too little, too late. This game was especially disappointing after our exciting win against Leon before Thanksgiving.
Fast forward one week and a day to Tuesday December 9. Maclay made the trip south to the coast to play on our home field. The JV Lady War Eagles were ready to turn the tables on the Lady Marauders.
With a little pride and some victory chocolate at stake, the JV players vowed to make this game a shut out. For a while, it looked like a 0-0 game. Sophomore Goalkeeper Holly Peacock was really putting her snazzy new yellow gloves to good use.
The Lady War Eagles sent shot after shot toward the Maclay goal but nothing found the net...until the 72nd minute. Freshman forward Chelsea Sanders scored her 5th goal of the 2008-2009 season to win the game for Wakulla.
